Kulbhushan Jadhav, sentenced to death on charges of spying, has filed a mercy petition to Pakistan Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Pakistan Army's public relations agency, ISPR said.
In a statement, the ISPR has claimed that Jadhav has admitted to his involvement in espionage, terrorist and subversive activities in Pakistan and expressed remorse at the resultant loss of many precious innocent lives and extensive damage to property due to his actions.
The statement also claimed that Jadhav is seeking forgiveness for his actions and he has requested the Chief of Army Staff to spare his life on compassionate grounds.
Pakistan Army's spokesperson Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor also posted Jadhav's second confessional video on Facebook in which he is "accepting his acts of terrorism and espionage."
Jadhav had earlier filed an appeal to the Military Appellate Court, which was rejected.
The International Court of Justice had recently ordered Islamabad to put on hold Jadhav's death sentence pending a decision on India's appeal in the case.
