May 23, 2011

Xinhua, the Chinese media, has quoted Afghan news outlet TOLOnews that Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Omar has been killed in Pakistan.

There has been no official confirmation of the news yet, and the Taliban has denied the report.

However, reports claim that Omar was shot dead as he was in transit from Quetta to North Waziristan over the weekend.

Omar, the one-eyed spiritual leader of the Taliban presided over the Taliban regime in Kabul from 1996 to 2001, which was toppled by the United States after the 9/11 terror strikes.
