Intelligence agencies have warned the Karnataka government of a major terror strike in Bangalore.

As per the information received by the government, terrorists will target the Vidhan Soudha which houses both Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.

The input also speaks of a specific threat to hospitals in Bangalore and key personalities in the state.

Home Minister Dr V S Acharya said security had been beefed up all over the state and especially at the installations that were mentioned by the IB.

He said that the Central Intelligence passed on this information to the state government a couple of days ago and the government had already begun acting on the same.

Adequate measures had been taken by the police department and our security forces were on high alert, he also added.

Bangalore has always been a target for terrorists. Although the city was rocked by serial blasts last year, IB officials consider it to be more of a dry run.

The other attack which was witnessed in Bangalore was the attack on the Indian Institute of Science by the Lashkar-e-Tayiba.

Karnataka has been utilized by terror groups to set up sleeper cells. Several deadly meetings of the Indian Mujahideen were held in Karnataka following which the serial blasts rocked the entire nation.
