A First Investigation Report was lodged on Wednesday against the Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray at Bahera police station for initiating a case of sedition, on the directions of a local court in Darbhanga.

Sub-divisional police officer of Benipur, Banke Rajak said, "Ramlakhan Mishra alias Ramu had filed a complaint case in the court of the additional chief judicial magistrate against Thackeray for initiating sedition case against him for allegedly killing north Indians."

Mishra, a resident of Chaugama village in Bahera police station, had alleged that Thackeray had unleashed a hate campaign against the north Indians in October last year when students from Bihar had gone to Mumbai to appear in an examination.

Benipur sub-division ACJM Hari Dayal Patel on November 11, 2008 had directed the police to lodge an FIR under sections 115 (abetment of offence), 124 A (sedition) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code against Thackeray.

The complainant again approached the court when police did not adhere to court's directive in this regard. The court rebuked the police for not registering an FIR despite its directions and directed it to lodge an FIR.
