Taking strong exception to the reports of Centre's move to issue an advisory to Orissa asking it to take measures to contain Kandhamal violence, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday said any such move would be 'politically-motivated'.

"It is unfortunate and politically motivated. When there are disturbances in many parts of the country, they (Centre) have chosen two states where Congress is not ruling," Patnaik said, referring to Orissa and Karnataka, both rocked by incidents of attacks on churches.

Accusing the UPA government at the Centre of being very slow in sending security forces, Patnaik told media persons that even now the state had not got the adequate number of forces to deal with the situation in Kandhamal and elsewhere.

The chief minister said since trouble began in Kandhamal, the state government had tried its best to maintain peace but the 'central government has been very slow in sending forces'.

Patnaik was responding to the reports that the Centre is understood to have decided to invoke Article 355 of the Constitution that typically holds out the threat of dismissal of a state government and imposition of President's rule to warn Orissa to rein in violence following attacks on Christians.
