The Pakistan government will set up a parliamentary caucus to forge national consensus and a comprehensive strategy to resolve the Kashmir issue, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Thursday.

Ruling Pakistan People's Party chief and President Asif Ali Zardari has talked to all political leaders on the Kashmir issue and decided to set up the parliamentary caucus, Qureshi told reporters at an iftar dinner hosted by him at the foreign office.

The government is sincere about resolving the issue through a comprehensive strategy and with the support of the entire political leadership of the country, he said.

Zardari and the leadership of the Pakistan People's Party have persuaded leaders of different political parties about the need to have the parliamentary caucus on Kashmir with representation from all parties.

"It will help develop national consensus on the Kashmir issue and the dialogue with India," Qureshi said.

Zardari had announced plans to form the caucus shortly after he was sworn in on Tuesday.
