CPI-M patriarch Jyoti Basu was admitted to a nursing home on Sunday after a CT scan revealed that blood clots had formed in his brain after he fell and injured
himself at his residence on Friday.
"A CT scan done yesterday revealed a collection of blood clots
on the brain surface. He is under observation," a medical bulletin issued by the nursing home said.
"Further decision on management will be taken after detailed assessment, specially of his neurological and cardiac
status by the medical board," it said.
The 94-year-old former West Bengal chief minister was "fully conscious and stable at the moment", it said. A ten-member medical board headed by Prof R N Bhattacharya has been formed to monitor his condition.
Basu fell and injured himself in the forehead after he fell down in the toilet at his Indira Bhavan residence.
