The Indian Navy which intercepted and boarded the MV Alpha, a Vietnamese registered ship, let off the ship after questioning the crew and cheking the ship's papers, which were found to be in order.

"The ship that was intercepted has been searched in accordance with international laws. Its papers were found in order and nothing suscpicous was found," said Captain Nambiar, PRO Defence, Mumbai.

The ship was travelling on the Panama route.

The Coast Guard and Navy had chased the MV Alpha. The Navy's Leander class frigate 'Vindhyagiri' and naval helicopters from the INS Kunjali were involved in pursuit of the merchant vessel.

He also added that marine commandos that had been withdrawn after the NSG came in, have been once again been reinstated at the Trident. There are 30 marine commandos at the Trident fighting terrorists at the moment.

Nambiar also said 40 marine commandos were involved in the anti-terror operations in South Mumbai till morning and rescued 300 people. One commando has been injured and being treated for the injuries. In the operation the commandos recovered a bag with cash, ammunition and credit cards.
