Senior Congress leader Margaret Alva breached party discipline by making serious charges and the Disciplinary Action Committee is seized of the issue on how to tackle the matter, party spokesman Veerappa Moily said on Monday.
"There is a breach of discipline by senior Congress leader Alva. There is no doubt about it. Her allegations are an afterthought and are not true," he said.
Margaret Alva resigns from AICC
"This is not in keeping with the unity and integrity of the party. She should not have made the statement," he told reporters while reacting to reports of her resignation in the wake of DAC proceedings, following a charge that tickets were sold during Assembly elections in Karnataka earlier this year.
She had also questioned the denial of a ticket for her son Nivedith.
When Margaret Alva left Congress red-faced
The Chairman of DAC A K Antony is seized of the matter and the Committee knows how it should be tackled, Moily said.
He also said Congress leader Siddharamaiah, who had supported Alva's outburst, had retracted his statement later.
