Dentist Rajesh Talwar, main accused in his daughter Aarushi's murder case, was brought to Hardwar by the Noida police on Friday in a bid to collect more evidence, ahead of a court hearing on his remand, which is ending today evening.

Talwar, whose whereabouts were kept secret during his three-day remand, was taken to this temple-town this morning as he and his family had come to Hardwar a day after his daughter Aarushi's murder, to perform the last rites. Accompanied by policemen in plain clothes, Talwar was taken through the streets, where a battery of media persons followed him.

The police also questioned Upendra Pancholi, the head priest who supervised the performance of last rites, to get more details. "Police came and questioned me. They asked me about the date and timing of the girl's death, entered in our records," Pancholi said.

Apart from Talwar, the priest said, his wife Nupur, brothers Dinesh and Ramesh and doctor-friend Bharat Bhushan were present on the occasion.

A senior police official said that Dr Talwar was taken back to Noida to present him before the court, as his police remand expires at 6 pm today. The police have been questioning Talwar at an undisclosed location for the past two days.

Talwar is accused of killing his 14-year-old daughter Aarushi and family servant Hemraj after he saw them in an 'objectionable' manner in her bedroom on May 16.
