K'taka: President's rule to be revoked

With the completion of the assembly election process in Karnataka, the Union Cabinet on Tuesday decided to revoke President's rule in the state.

A meeting of the Cabinet under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has decided to recommend to the President to revoke the Central rule imposed in the state on November 20, 2007.

The Central rule, which was to expire on May 19 last was extended by another six months by the Parliament.

The election in the state was held in three phases on May 10, 16 and 22, which saw emergence of BJP as the single largest party.

Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Tuesday night invited Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa to form the government.
