India on Thursday rushed more relief material to Myanmar as the death toll in the cyclone-ravaged country crossed 80,000.

A giant IL-76 transport aircraft, carrying tents, medicines and relief material, reached Yangon on Thursday as relief agencies said it could take several days or weeks to assess the extent of devastation.

Two Indian Air Force planes and two naval ships had reached the Myanmarese capital on Wednesday bringing in urgently required essential supplies.

Myanmar Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Maj Gen Maung Maung Swe received the relief supplies including clothing, blankets, medicine and food and thanked India for the prompt and spontaneous response.

The Indian Naval Ships -- INS Rana and INS Kirpan -- braved very high velocity winds from 50 to 60 knots, shifting sands and other hazards while navigating the channel.

Another IL-76 aircraft will be leaving Delhi on Saturday for Yangon with more relief supplies.
