All India Congress Commitee general secretary Rahul Gandhi will kick off the Karnataka leg of his Discover India trip on March 25. During his four-day visit, Rahul's main agenda would be to lure the youth into joining the Congress, according to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Mallikarjuna Kharge.

Kharge told reporters in Bangalore on Thursday that during the visit, Rahul would meet the people of rural Karnataka to understand the problems faced by them.

Rahul will start his road show from Chamrajnagar on March 25. He would then travel to  H D Kote, Mangalore, Hubli-Dharwad, Gadag, Bagalkot, Almatti and Raichur. Rahul's  tour would end in Bangalore on March 29.

However, Kharge said that it would be wrong to term Rahu's trip as an election stunt as the visit had been planned a month ago, when the dates for the Karnataka elections had not been announced.

Krishna Byre Gowda, president of the Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee, said that Rahul's visit would encourage the youth to join the party. He said that under Rahul's guidance, they had set up call centres across the state to inform the people about the procedures to be followed to join the party.

Byre Gowda added that Rahul's visit would have a personal touch and he will spend a lot of time on the ground, interacting with the people of Karnataka.
