An anonymous phone call to the Delhi police on Saturday afternoon, threatening to blow up a metro station, triggered panic at the facility.

The Hauz Qazi police station received the threat call at approximately 2.30 pm, saying that bombs were placed near the Chawri Bazar metro station and it would be blown up, a senior police officer said.

Bomb disposal teams and dog squads have been rushed to the spot and searches around the premises are going on, the officer said.

"We are conducting searches and simultaneously trying to identify the caller. The call was made from a PCO at the Kashmiri Gate metro station," he said.

The Delhi police have received five phone calls during the last 45 days, from unidentified callers, threatening to blow up the Chawri Bazar metro station, which later turned out to be hoaxes.
