Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hit back at the Congress, which had demanded that a sedition case be slapped on him for his 'no tax' remark, and dared the party's leaders to file a case against him.

The All India Congress Committee had taken strong exception to Modi's controversial statement, daring the Centre to stop funds to Gujarat for a year and not collect any taxes from it.

Addressing a function organised in Surat to commence the 108 emergency ambulance services in south Gujarat, Modi dared the Congress government to file a case of sedition against him.

"I dare the Congress government to press charges of sedition against me. I don't need a certificate from the Congress party to prove my love for the country," Modi said.

On June 11, Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari had said that a case of sedition should be filed against Modi for his 'assault on the idea of India'.
