The post-mortem on the bodies of police firing victims in Karwadi was on Monday held up with the Gujjar leadership making a fresh demand that corpses of their community members in a Jaipur hospital be first sent to Dausa district.

The new demand was voiced by Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bhiansla, who said that autopsy on the bodies of 14 people killed in police firing during the agitation for ST status be carried out in Sikandara in Dausa, where they had died.

Seventy-year-old Bhainsla, a retired colonel, had earlier agreed to allow the post mortem on the bodies of the victims to be carried out by the Rajasthan authorities.

As per an understanding between the two sides, corpses of four victims were brought to Karwadi from a hospital in Bharatpur so that the autopsy exercise on them could be conducted along with that of 12 bodies being held by Gujjar protesters for the last 11 days.

A team of doctors has been stationed here at Samogar bridge to carry out the post mortem. An X-ray machine and an ambulance have also been positioned here.

The condition of the 12 bodies here which have been kept in metal trunks with ice slabs is said have deteriorated.
