According to senior officers of the Intelligence Bureau, the Gujarat and Karnataka blasts have been part of the covert offensive mounted by the Inter Services Intelligence of Pakistan, which has been instrumental in executing the blasts in the two Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states.

Earlier, Jaipur bore the brunt of the ISI-sponsored blasts. In all, no arrests have been carried out so far.

Though the Pakistani news media had carried a report on Monday morning that the ISI was being placed under the civil administration, very soom the report was rubbished by describing it as a media plant.

On Sunday K P S Gill had said that the ISI was deliberately targeting BJP-ruled states as they were not in a position to counter ISI's moves and deal with the terrorists effectively.

The Delhi police has stepped up security in view of the Independence Day celebrations. "We have inducted 3,000 more people in our force to strengthen the present system and make our vigil more effective," Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajan Bhagat, PRO for Delhi police, told rediff.com.

"We have mounted special vigilance in hotels and tourist places as well as religous places and markets to ensure that everything passes off smoothly. We had seen some of our men sleeping during the television coverage. Officers have trained these men how to tackle the situation and be effective," an officer of Delhi police said.

Since the Delhi police is directly under the home ministry, it gets directives from time to time particularly when it comes to VIP security.

Furious over two consecutive days of jihadi attacks, Dr Pravin Togadiya, international general secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad said, "It is a matter of grave concern for all Hindus in India and the world that jihadi terrorism and government appeasement of those involved in jihadi terrorism may destroy India very very soon. In 24 hours, there were 26 blasts in India -- eight in the IT city of Bengaluru and 16 in the growing commercial hub Ahmedabad.

Instead of fighting jidadis, the government is giving quotas to those involved in jihad in government jobs, police and army. It is ridiculous and dangerous to India's safety. If governments do not have political will and the capacity to finish jihad and provide security to India, then all of them must resign immediately and give the nation in the hands of army that knows how to protect the nation and fight the real enemy."

Togadia said that the government of India should close all madrasas with immediate effect and snap trade agreements with Pakistan and Bangladesh who are sending terrorists to India to carry out bomb blasts.
