In more bad news for the United Progressive Alliance, Harish Nagpal, an independent Lok Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh, said that he will vote against the government during the July 22 trust vote.

In a press conference called by Bharatiya Janata Party leader M Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi on Thursday, Member of Parliament from Almora Harish Nagpal pledged to vote against the government, as 'it had failed on all fronts'.

"He has not joined us, but he will work with us and vote against the government," Naidu told journalists.

Naidu also took the opportunity to launch another attack on Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, who had objected against the Communist party of India – Marxist's decision to vote against the government, along with the 'communal forces'
"If he has such a problem, then arrangements could be made for him to vote separately," Naidu said.

When queried if the Congress had offered him money in exchange for his support, Nagpal said, "No such offer was made to me. But there is no smoke without fire".

"I am totally against the government as it has failed on all fronts. I hope to work with the BJP," he added.
