The Bharatiya Janata Party has questioned the statement of Speaker Somnath Chatterjee that he would not like to be seen to vote along with BJP.

Rajiv Pratap Rudy, spokesman of the party, said that it is strange that speaker who is supposed to be non partisan should make such a comment.

"In the past speaker had on several occasions commented that speaker's office is a non-partisan office and hence he cannot distinguish between the parties," Chatterjee had said.

The speaker then went on to say that he is not a member of the Communist Party of India-Marxist whereas the 10th schedule maintains that the member belongs to the party from which he has been elected.

Rudy lashed out at Rahul Gandhi that some of the younger members of the BJP are in favour of nuclear deal. Rudy challenged Rahul Gandhi to name the BJP MP's who are for the deal.

This is the first time Rahul Gandhi has crossed swords with BJP on this issue. When asked to give the number of MP's who are against the deal, Rudy said that he would need another 48 hours to know the precise position.
