Telgi now has sought for home food on the ground that he is sick and is infected with HIV. Telgi states in an application that the food being provided in the central jail at Bengaluru is not suitable for him and hence home food be provided.
Telgi has filed an application to this effect before the Special Court, Bengaluru which is trying the multi-crore fake stamp paper case. The application seeks a direction to the jail authorities to make arrangements so that home food could be provided to him.
Telgi in a one page application states that the doctors have recommended that he be given home food as he is infected with HIV. He also states that his health does not permit him to eat the food being provided in jail and it would have serious repercussions on his health.
Telgi has further stated that while he was in the Bengaluru jail in 2004 prior to be being shifted to the Yerawada jail in Pune, he was being provided home food.
His counsel, M T Nanaiah told rediff.com that the matter would come up for hearing on July 9 before the Special Court. He said arguments would be advanced on the same day on the application filed by him
A controversy had arisen over the same issue in the year 2004 when Telgi was lodged in the Bengaluru central jail.
There was an allegation made by the investigating agencies that the man who carried food to Telgi in jail had also been passing on messages on the sly.
