The farmers' issue continued to disrupt proceedings in both Houses of Parliament for the third day on Thursday with a determined National Democratic Alliance and Third Front refusing to allow the Houses to conduct normal business demanding a 'fair deal' to farmers.

Opposition members again demanded loan waiver and a fiscal package for farmers in the Rajya Sabha soon after obituary references and raised anti-Government slogans.

As the Lok Sabha met for the day, the Opposition members, including those of the Samajwadi Party, Telugu Desam Party, Shiv Sena, and Bharatiya Janata Party stormed the well of the House demanding immediate loan waiver to farmers.

A visibly angry Speaker Somnath Chatterjee disapproved the action observing, "With great sorrow, sadness and great resentment, I am forced to adjourn the House".

As he adjourned the House for an hour, Chatterjee directed officials to send him the names of members disrupting the proceedings, saying, "I am sorry you are working over time to finish democracy. It is matter of great sorrow".

In the Rajya Sabha, NDA and Third Front members were on their feet soon after the House mourned the passing away of two of its former members. Chairman Hamid Ansari urged the members to allow Question Hour, but the slogan-shouting dimmed his voice.

While Third Front members sought waiver of loans and a comprehensive fiscal package for the farmers, the NDA accused the ruling United Progressive Alliance of doing little for farmers. He adjourned the house couple of minutes into the uproar.
