In a move to create a think tank on ideological lines of nationalism, Tarun Vijay, the chief editor of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's mouthpiece, Panchjanya, has resigned from his post to join BJP's newly-created think tank Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Research Foundation.
Known for his proximity to Bharatiya Janata Party leaders L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, Tarun Vijay is the public face of the RSS.
Vijay has also been inducted as special invitee to national executive of the BJP.
The author of Saffron Surge is an ardent advocate of Hindutva. Commenting on his book, Vijay had said: "This book is an attempt to understand myself and to explain what I felt was a gross miscarriage of justice against Hindus and why we must stand united to say no to all that is happening against our will in the name of a fake secularism, if we want pluralism, mutual coexistence and appreciation for a different viewpoint has to survive on earth."
Sending him to saffron party's ideological think tank just before the elections is being seen as a significant move on part of the RSS.
Tarun has also been a columnist with rediff.com and several other papers, and has written 15 books, the last being Saffron Surge, released by the RSS chief K S Sudarshan last year.
