Three influential United States Senators, including John Kerry, will be in New Delhi on Wednesday on a two-day visit during which they will hold talks with Indian leaders expectedly on issues like the civil nuclear deal and climate change.

Developments in Pakistan are also likely to figure in the discussions that Kerry, Joseph Biden and Chuck Hagel will have with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and some other leaders after their arrival from Islamabad.

Kerry, Massachusetts Senator who lost the 2004 Presidential election to George W Bush, Biden, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel were in Pakistan as observers for the general elections.

During their meeting with the Prime Minister, the civil nuclear deal issue is likely to come up.

Kerry was initially opposed to the nuclear deal, but during his visit to India two years ago, he had extended 'in-principle' support to the pact after a meeting with Dr Singh.

Hagel, a Republican, was Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Sub-Committee when the Indo-US civil nuclear deal was discussed threadbare by the US House.

Issues related to climate change are also expected to be discussed. In this regard, the Senators will also meet science and technology minister Kapil Sibal to discuss how the two countries can collaborate in fighting the challenge.
