Six Central Reserve Police Force personnel and 13 Naxals were killed in two separate encounters in Bijapur district, about 565 km from Chhattisgarh, a senior police official said on Monday.
Three CRPF head constables and an equal number of constables were killed in a gun battle with Maoists in Tadkel hill of Mirtur police station area of the district, Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Rajinder Kumar Vij told PTI.
Three Naxals were gunned down by the CRPF personnel in the incident, he said.
Meanwhile, the Special Task Force shot dead 10 Maoists in Edasmeta jungle, falling under Gangalur police station in the district.
Firing from both sides was going on, but police said they recovered some weapons and other materials possessed by the rebels.
Police of the bordering Bastar region has been put on high alert after the attack by Naxals on police stations in Orissa's Nayagarh and Daspalla districts.
