An autorickshaw driver received bullet injury after passengers allegedly fired at him from their country-made pistols following an altercation, the police said on Sunday.
After some altercation between the passengers said to be north Indians and rickshaw owner Yogesh Pandharinath Shinde on Dindori-Nanashi road, one of the passenger fired some rounds from his pistol when one hit Shinde, the police said.
The driver was rushed to a private hospital where he was operated upon and the bullet was removed from his stomach.
Irate villagers of Valkhed staged a road blockade demanding arrest of those involved in the incident and burnt a motorcycle belonging to the police.
They also dug road to stop vehicular traffic.
Additional force was rushed to the spot and a man has been detained for the firing, the police added.
