Lal Krishna Advani, Bhartiya Janata Party's nominee for the post of prime ministership, has said that all parties should maintain the spirit of the Constitution for which the BJP and the Bhartiya Jan Sangh before it were floated as political parties.

Advani was commenting on Raj Thackeray and Udhav Thackeray's assertions that the sons of the soil have the first right to jobs in Mumbai. Migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were beaten up allegedly by workers from Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.

"The BJP was born to uphold the spirit of one flag and one Constitution and our founder president Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee laid down his life for this principle. All Indian citizens are free to move anywhere in India to earn their living," he said

BJP president Rajnath Singh denied having spoken to Raj Thackery or Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray about the on-going crisis in his bid to find a solution to the problem.

Party president Rajnath Singh wondered if Lord Krishna could be revered in all parts of India despite being born in Mathura, how can someone seek to divide the family of Lord Ganesh from Kanshi and Benaras, which that is also known by Shiv Ki Nagari.
