Two suspected Harkat-ul-Jehad-al-Islami (HuJI) militants, arrested in Honnali in January, were subjected to polygraph tests on Wednesday to elicit information on their activities as well as terror links.

"The two suspects, Riyazuddin Nasir alias Ghouse and Asadullah Abubaker, who were brought to Bangalore on Tuesday, were subjected to polygraph (lie detector) tests at the Forensic Science Laboratory today", FSL sources said.

Depending on the outcome of the tests, a decision on whether to conduct brain mapping on the duo will be taken, the sources indicated, but refused to share further details.

Ghouse and Abubakkar were arrested by Honnali police on January 5, while they were speeding away on a stolen motor cycle, the police said.

The police had no inkling then that they had captured militants, who reportedly had planned subversive activities in parts of Karnataka and Goa.

A case of theft of had been filed against them and 'incoherent' statements made by the accused prompted the Honnali court magistrate to remand them to police custody for investigations.

During interrogation, the arrested reportedly confessed to their links with terror groups and their plans to trigger explosions in about 20 places in Karnataka.

Police teams from Gujarat, Hyderabad and Delhi also interrogated the arrested.
