Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Tuesday announced that a two-member high-level panel will be set up to probe the recent terror attack on Mumbai.
The committee will be headed by former Nagaland governor and former Union home secretary R D Pradhan, who will have the status of a cabinet minister.
Former IPS officer and a secretary in the Union government, V Balachandran, will be the member of the committee and enjoy the rank of minister of state.
The committee will look into all aspects of terror attacks including lapses if any and submit its report within two months, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan announced in the Legislative Assembly today.
Talking to reporters, Chavan and deputy chief minister Chaggan Bhujbal said since the chairman of the panel enjoys the rank of a cabinet minister, the committee can summon officers of any rank.
