Pakistan on Friday said it has so far not requested consular access to Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist captured during the Mumbai terror attacks, as India has not provided any evidence on his identity and nationality.
Consular access is usually sought once the identity and nationality of an accused are established, Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Sadiq told Pakistan's Dawn News channel.
Pakistan has not received "any official information" on Kasab from India so far, he said.
The spokesman's comments came in the wake of a report in the Dawn newspaper in which Kasab's father admitted the gunman whose pictures were beamed by media across the world was his son.
Kasab has told Indian security officials that he was recruited and trained by the outlawed Lashker-e-Tayiba, which planned and carried out the attacks in Mumbai.
Pakistan has insisted that India should share evidence and information on the Mumbai attacks so that it can proceed with its own investigation.
