Two persons including an activist of Democratic Party (Nationalist) were injured in a militant grenade attack in summer capital Srinagar on Thursday afternoon.

The police said militants tossed a grenade at a headquarters of the Democratic Party headed by former minister Ghulam Hassan Mir at Rajbagh.

"Two persons including a party activist and a driver were injured in the explosion. The injured were taken to hospital," a senior police officer said.

They said Mir was not inside the party headquarters at the time of the attack this afternoon.

Mir, who was earlier a close confidante of People's Democratic Party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, is contesting election from north Kashmir Gulmarg constituency that went to polls Sunday last.

He was expelled from the PDP last year. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
