I am satisfied with BSP's performance, says Mayawa

The results of the Assembly polls in five states might be far below her much-touted proclamations over the recent past, yet Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati says she was "quite satisfied with the results".

Addressing a press conference on Monday evening, she claimed, "I am satisfied with the performance of our party in various state Assembly polls."

She said, 'Except for Mizoram, we have gained in each of the four states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh , Chattisgarh and Delhi – where not only our vote share but even the tally of seats has gone up."

According to her, the BSP rose its vote percentage from 3.9. to 8 between the last election in 2003 and now in Rajasthan , where its tally rose from 2 to 6 seats.

"In Madhya Pradesh, where we had polled only 7.2 per cent vote  with 2 seats in 2003 , our voting percentage rose to 11 with 7

seats in hand", she pointed out.

"Likewise , in Delhi we have now won 2 seats with a score of 12 per cent votes as against 5.7 per cent with no seat in 2003", she said.

According to  Mayawati, "Even as the party's tally did not rise beyond 2 seats , the party gained in terms of vote share which rose from 4.4 per cent to 6.5 per cent this time."

Admitting that she did expect some more seats in some of these states, Mayawati accused the Congress and the Bharaitya Janata Party (BJP) of "confusing the voter with their dirty tactics."

However, claiming she had no regrets, the BSP chief maintained, "There were several seats where our nominees had lost only with a slender margin , so that clearly shows our potential."
