A woman was killed and 35 people were injured in a stampede at the maiden public meeting of Telugu superstar-turned-politician Chiranjeevi in Tirupati on Tuesday evening.
The stampede occurred when thousands of excited
fans of the actor forced their entry close to the dais when he reached there, police said.
Despite baton charges by police, the crowd surge went out of control, police said.
Some people at the rally expressing their anger over the 'inadequate' arrangements by the organisers hurled stones and footwears.
