Narayanan to visit JK

National Security Advisor M K Narayanan will be in  Srinagar on Wednesday for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Narayanan will meet Governor N.N.Vohra and authorities from civilian and security agencies. He will also discuss the situation in Jammu region with Vohra, where the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS) extended the ongoing bandh till August 25.

The NSA will submit a detailed report to the prime minister after his return to New Delhi.

The 4-member panel, headed by Dr S S Bloeria, advisor to Governor, has yet again invited the SAYSS for commencing a dialogue to evolve an amicable solution on all the core issues.

The Governor had set up a 4-member committee comprising Dr. Bleoria, Justice (Retd) G. D. Sharma, formerly judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, vice chancellor, University of Jammu, and B. B. Vyas, chief executive officer, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and principal secretary to governor to hold talks with the SASS.

Meanwhile groups of youths shouting pro-freedom slogans held protests after sundown in parts of summer capital Srinagar in response to the call given by the separatist, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), even as the valley was calm today after days of protests and shut down.
