The Amarnath Yatra was suspended on Monday due to inclement weather in Baltal and Pahalgam areas in south Kashmir, police said.
"The yatra to the Amarnath shrine has been suspended on Monday. No batch was sent from Jammu to the cave shrine," they said.
Heavy rains were lashing Pahalgam and Baltal sections of Amarnath routes and tracks have
become slippery, they added.
Over 1,000 pilgrims staying in Jammu-based Yatri Bhawan base camp for their onward journey to the shrine.
The last batch of pilgrims will leave from Jammu on August 14 for the Yatra, which will conclude on August 16.
A record 5.4 lakh pilgrims have paid a visit to the Himalayan shrine this year. In 2003, five lakh Pilgrims visited the cave shrine when the Yatra was first extended to a two-month period.
