The explosion, which caused a panic in Bengaluru, on Friday turned out to be the work of miscreants who wrapped crackers in a plastic bag and dumped it in a bin.

Police Commissioner, Shankar Bidri said unidentified persons placed crackers in a bin behind a hotel at Hoysalanagar, Bangalore which is a Muslim dominated area.

The police said the intention was to cause panic among residents of the area. Although no arrests had been made, the commissioner said that the matter would not be taken lightly. At 12.45 pm, an explosion was heard outside the Rasheed Hotel at Hoysalanagar.
