The United Liberation Front of Assam has criticised all the intellectuals, writers and media persons in the state who have urged it to participate in unconditional talks with the Centre and give up its demand for 'restoration of sovereignty' of Assam.
ULFA, an agent for India's enemies
In the editorial of its monthly mouthpiece 'Swadhinta (Freedom)', the ULFA rejected the arguments of these intellectuals, who have claimed that the people of Assam only want peace, not sovereignty. They urged the banned outfit to come forward for unconditional talks with the Centre.
The ULFA stated that it would never support such 'shallow arguments of a section of rootless intellectuals who have no knowledge of the history and civilization of Assam'.

"Sovereignty is the fundamental right of the people of Assam. It can't be compromised. It has been violated and it has to be restored. The state government has to clarify whether it recognises the right of sovereignty of the people of Assam or not," the ULFA mouthpiece stated.
Regarding the alarming problem of illegal migrants that is threatening to reduce the indigenous populace in the state to minority, the ULFA stated that no government in Assam under the 'colonial Indian regime' would be able to solve this problem.
ULFA still biggest insurgent outfit in Assam: Govt
The editorial claimed that the problem had been created by the colonial government to cause disadvantage to the indigenous people, so that exploitation of natural resources of the state can go on unhindered.
The ULFA called upon the leaders of the historic Assam Agitation to explain why the government has failed to take effective steps to stop illegal migration that has posed serious threat to the economy, culture and civilization in the state.
