The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission on Wednesday warned Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, 'not to cross his limits', during the rally he plans to address on Saturday.

Raj, who had initiated a violent anti-north Indian campaign in February and was arrested on charges of inciting his cadres, plans to hold a rally at the historic Shivaji Park on Saturday, in which he plans to chart out the future course of action for his two-year-old outfit.

The police have already granted permission to Raj for addressing the rally.

Meanwhile, Raj's advocate filed an affidavit before the SHRC, stating that the commission has no jurisdiction to pass orders against the MNS chief.

Acting upon a complaint filed by activist Medha Patkar, the SHRC had summoned Raj to be present at the hearing.

Patkar has filed a complaint against the Maharashtra police as well, alleging that of the 41 cases registered against Thackeray, the police have made him an accused only in one case.

She further alleges that according to normal practice, an arrested accused is produced before the magistrate only the next day. However, Raj was produced before a court within an hour of his arrest.

Patkar has alleged that going by the favours offered to Raj Thackeray, police officers were prima facie guilty of the offence of criminal omission of departmental action.
