The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday described the Deccan Herald-CNN-IBN pre-poll survey, which gave an edge to the Congress in the forthcoming Karnataka polls, as 'off the mark and totally away from reality'.

The BJP asserted that the party is sure to get majority on its own in next month's assembly poll.

"Any survey should be realistic and reflect ground realities. The surveying agency should come out with its track record of earlier surveys," BJP national general secretary H N Anant Kumar said.

Repudiating the survey's claim that price rise is not an issue in the election, he said, "In that case, the survey is conducted in Myanmar and not in Karnataka."

How could such a survey be conducted when the political parties have not completed the exercise of finalising candidates, Kumar asked.

The survey conducted by these organisations in the last two years has proved that it was far from reality, he said and pointed out that the surveys conducted before Punjab and Gujarat elections were off the mark.

Karnataka state unit BJP president D V Sadananda Gowda also rejected the survey report, terming it a 'premature conclusion'.

Kumar and Gowda also released audio cassettes and CDs for the BJP's poll campaign today.
