The Samajwadi Party on Saturday said it will support the no confidence motion against the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government if the same was moved by the Left parties in the Lok Sabha.

"If the Left brings a no confidence motion against the UPA government, our stand is clear. We will oppose this government," SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav told reporters in Lucknow.

Evading a direct reply on whether he foresaw mid-term polls in the wake of Left's opposition to the nuclear deal, he said his party will be ready.

Criticising the Mayawati government for being unconcerned over the plight of Madhesis' from Nepal, who have taken shelter in border districts of UP, Mulayam demanded an immediate intervention by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"Thousands of Madhesis' have taken shelter in the border districts of Uttar Pradesh, but the UP government appears to be unconcerned over their plight and is busy with its own issues," he alleged.

"The prime minister should intervene and try to evolve a way out through negotiations so that democracy could be established in Nepal and free and fair poll was held," Mulayam said.

The SP leader said that he would be writing a letter to the prime minister in this regard soon.
