INSAT-4CR placed in final slot: ISRO chief

Communication satellite INSAT-4CR, launched from Sriharikota on September 2, was successfully placed in its final geosynchronous orbit, Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman G Madhavan Nair said on Friday,

Talking to newspersons on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Nair said that the satellite has reached its final slot and will be fully operational by the month-end.

INSAT-4CR, put into orbit by GSLV-F04, was co-located with INSAT-3C, KALPANA-1 and EDUSAT in the orbital position of 74 degree E longitude.

Nair said the date for the next two launches from Sriharikota scheduled for this year will be finalised by the end of this month.

The ISRO's ambitious 'Chandrayaan' mission was also progressing well, said Nair
