Top JeM commander killed in J&K

Security forces killed a top commander of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed in a fierce encounter in north Kashmir early on Tuesday morning.

A police spokesman said the Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir police and 57 Rashtriya Rifles conducted a joint operation at Bandipora in the north Kashmir district of Baramulla early on Tuesday morning following specific information about the presence of militants.

During the operation, an encounter ensued in which a district commander, identified as Amanullah Bukhari, was killed.

One AK rifle, and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.
