Women TV journalists alleged that some policemen deputed at actor Amitabh Bachchan's residence on the occasion of his 65th birthday on Thursday molested them as they were waiting to interview the megastar.

"We were waiting outside Bachchan's residence Pratiksha at suburban Juhu for his sound-bytes. At around 1 pm when he came out, expectedly the crowd broke into a frenzy and rushed towards him. But the police instead of controlling the mob, began manhandling the journalists," a reporter deputed at the actor's residence told PTI.

"There was a sizable number of women journalists present there. The constables on duty grabbed us by our hands and began touching us everywhere," she said.

Another reporter said that the police did not stop at that.

"We all were crying, our clothes were dishevelled and some of the officers on duty were laughing at us when the public too began misbehaving," they said in the police complaint.

The entire group of scribes and camerapersons went to the Juhu police station to lodge a first information report, but Assistant Commissioner of Police Kaiser Ahmed discouraged them from filing the FIR.

"We had to file the complaint on an ordinary piece of paper and six journalists and some of the camerapersons from various news channels signed on the reverse side of the paper, demanding action against the policemen," another reporter on condition of anonymity said.

"The ACP did not promise any action, but said that he would ensure such an incident was not repeated again," she said.
