Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has convened a cabinet meeting on October 5 to discuss the political crisis in the state.

The cabinet is also expected to finalise the date for a special legislative session later this month. Sources in the Janata Dal – Secular said that the session will be held after October 15 to dissolve the Assembly and declare elections in the state.

Confident after its sweeping victory in the local body polls, the JD-S

feels that the political situation in the state is favourable for elections.

Kumaraswamy and his team are expected to hand over their resignations to the Governor after the two-day session. The session is expected to have a debate about the political crisis in the state and discuss the government's next course of action.

However, it is not clear whether Bharatiya Janata party leaders will attend the session.
