For the people of Karnataka, the worst political drama enacted by their respectable netas (leaders) in the state is like a 70mm script. The kind of developments that the state has been witnessing in its political circles happens only in the movies, they say.
Well now here is the surprise. Two movies based on the state's political crisis are expected to hit the screens shortly. Mukhyamantri I love you (Chief Minister I love You) and Papa's Adventures are the likely titles for the films to be directed by Ravi Belagere and Ashok Khenny respectively.
While the first story revolves around the alleged affair between a former chief minister and a leading heroine in Kannada cinema, the other will deal with adventures of Janata Dal-Secular chief H D Deve Gowda during the political crisis, which rocked Karnataka.
In the film, Mukhyamantri I love You, newcomer Vijay plays the lead character of the chief minister while Bhavana plays his mistress and Haripriya his wife. This movie will also have a character called Tantri Gowda, which will be played by leading actor of yesteryears, Loknath.
The second movie, which will be produced by Ashok Khenny, will revolve more around Deve Gowda and his political adventures in Karnataka. Incidentally, Khenny is also the managing director of the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Limited, which is implementing the controversial Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project.
It is a known fact that both Gowda and Khenny cannot see eye-to-eye over the implementation of the project. When the JD-S-BJP combine was in power in the state, the government almost collapsed over differences relating to the implementation of this project. Gowda had been adamant that Khenny should not implement the project, but the BJP refused to support him on the issue.
The industry grapevine claims that this movie would be Khenny's way of extracting revenge from Gowda.
