Disapproving his father H D Deve Gowda's attempts to form a new government in Karnataka with the Congress, former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has stated that he is in favour of the dissolution of the state assembly and holding mid-term polls.

"This morning, I spoke to my father, who is camping in Delhi and asked him not to knock the doors of the Congress," said Kumaraswamy.

"Under the current situation, it is better to dissolve the state assembly and seek a fresh mandate," he added.

Gowda, who is the leader of the JD-S, rushed to Delhi on Monday to explore possibilities of government formation with Congress.

Apparently sensing the public outcry against JD-S for pulling down the BJP government headed by B S Yeddyurappa within a week of its installation, Kumaraswamy said there was no point in forming another government with Congress support.

"We have already had enough with the Congress and also with the BJP. For what should we try to form another government? What will people think about us?" he said reacting to the Centre's decision to impose President's rule in the state and to keep the assembly in suspended animation.

The JD-S had also brought down the Dharam Singh government in 2006 and later struck a power sharing pact with the BJP.
