Over the years, thanks to the madness of industrialisation, the temperature had become unbearably hot and people started saying that Bangalore is no longer the Garden City that it used to be.

However, now there is hope and there seems to be a marked improvement in the weather. Bangalore on Thursday recordedĀ its lowest minimum temperature in the past 16 years, which brought about a smile on the face of every Bangalorean.

The Met department says that the minimum temperature recorded on Thursday was 12.7 degree Celsius. The last time the temperature in the city reached such a low was in November 1991, when the temperature dropped to 12.2 degree Celsius.

Met department officials say the temperature could dip further in the coming days which would mean that there would be more smartly turned out people in Bangalore. The Met department says that the drop in temperature is mainly due to the extended wet season in Karnataka and humid conditions both in the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.

The lowest ever temperature recorded in Bangalore was 7.8 degrees Celsius way back in 1884. The second lowest temperature ever recorded in Bangalore was 9.6 degree Celsius in 1967.
