Rajasthan: Gujjars seek Minister's resignation
May 30, 2007 12:31 IST

The Gujjar Mahasabha has sought the resignation of Rajasthan Panchayati Raj Minister Kalulal Gujjar from the Vasundhara Raje cabinet in protest against the police firing on the agitating Gujjar community for their inclusion in the Scheduled Tribe list.

The Mahasabha also announced a ban on the entry of the minister in the Sawai Bhoj Mandir, the biggest pilgrim centre of the Gujjars in Bhilwara, where he is the president of the temple trust.

The Gujjars have also convened a condolence meeting in the evening in Bhilwara, where the announcement of the removal of the minister from the presidentship of the temple trust is expected.

The Bhilwara city and Gujjar-dominated Asind township in the district is observing a bandh on Wednesday in protest against Tuesday's police firing, in which 13 people were killed.
