A day after Bharatiya Janata Party's national vice-president and Uttar Pradesh chief ministerial candidate Kalyan Singh's resignation in the wake of drubbing in the recent Assembly polls, party state office-bearers on Wednesday held a meeting in Lucknow to discuss the debacle.

Senior party leader and former BJP national president Venkaiah Naidu, who was in-charge of the elections, and senior leader Gopinath Munde took part in the meeting, BJP sources said.

Besides, all senior state leaders, including Kalyan Singh, state BJP president Kesri Nath Tripathi, Lalji Tandon, and Om Prakash Mishra also attended the meeting, they said.

Kalyan Singh, who had submitted his resignation as in-charge of party affairs in the state owning moral responsibility for the debacle, had called for a total revamp in the organisational structure.

He had said that a meeting of the office-bearers and concerned leaders should be convened to introspect the reasons leading to the dismal performance of the party in the polls.

Tripathi had earlier owned moral responsibility for the debacle and said he would abide by the decision of the party on his continuance as the party's state chief. He could not even save his own seat in Allahabad.

However, the sources said that some heads were likely to roll in the party organisation.

Incidently, a meeting of the party's newly elected legislators would also be held later in the day to elect the legislature party leader.

Tandon was the BJP legislature party leader in the previous Vidhan Sabha.
