'Burn Laine's book if found in Maharashtra'
May 09, 2007 01:17 IST

Shiv Sena executive president Udhav Thackeray on Tuesday said the book Shivaji: Hindu King in Islamic India, written by James Laine, should be burnt if it was found anywhere in Maharashtra.

Udhav Thackeray was in Pune to inaugurate the Sena Bhavan in the busy Deccan Gymkhana area.

He criticised Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil for not handling the issue properly.

Earlier, Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray had also called upon Shiv Sainiks to burn the book.

The high court has, however, quashed the ban on the book in its judgment delivered last month.
