Gujarat CID has found evidence that one of the three IPS officers arrested in the fake encounter case, was present when the body of Sohrabuddin Sheikh's wife Kausar bi was being disposed of.
The source, however, refused to divulge the name of the officer who was present. He did not give any details of the evidence either.
When asked further, the official said: "I cannot say anything more at this juncture."
Kausar bi was murdered and her body burnt a few days after her husband was killed in a fake encounter. IPS officers D G Vanzara, Rajkumar Pandian and Dineshkumar MN from Rajasthan were arrested in connection with the fake encounter.
Sohrabuddin's brother Rababuddin had said in his application to the Supreme Court that he feared Kausar bi was killed and her remains dispersed in a farm in Ilol village in Banaskantha district of Gujarat which is the home town of arrested IPS officer D G Vanzara.
The application prompted the CID to carry out digging operations in the farm of Vanzara.
